Afghan teen tries to drown ex-girlfriend in Berlin River

    A 19-year-old Afghan asylum seeker is going through tried homicide costs after allegedly attempting to drown his 17-year-old former girlfriend in Berlin’s Havel River, police mentioned on Wednesday.

    The teenager, who got here to Germany in 2015 as a refugee, was allegedly having an argument with the woman when he pushed her into the river, subsequently leaping in after her and attempting to push her beneath water.

    The woman was capable of free herself and swim to shore, and solely suffered slight hypothermia.

    The 19-year-old, in the meantime, who can’t swim, needed to be reanimated after swallowing water.

    The teen stays in hospital and will likely be taken into custody as soon as his well being improves, police mentioned. (dpa/NAN)
