Nigerian troops on Monday repelled an assault by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at a safety checkpoint few kilometres away from Maiduguri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the incident occurred at about 5: 30 PM, at Moloi space, on the outskirts of town.
The insurgents had been mentioned to have torched some homes and vandalized automobiles on Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu Road.
An eye witness, Aji Maina, mentioned that the insurgents attacked and shot at intervals, a scenario which made the villagers to scamper into security and flee their houses.
Maina mentioned that the residents of Moloi and adjoining villages bumped into Polo and different areas of Maiduguri for security.
He, nevertheless, mentioned that troopers deployed to the world engaged the insurgents and repelled the assault.
“The insurgents attacked the ED safety part, torched homes and motorists caught within the cross fireplace.

“Many people fled their homes and scampered into safety in Maiduguri,” he mentioned.
