It was the turn of residents of Ikeja on Sunday to host thousands of fun-loving residents and internal tourists for this year’s Lagos Street Carnival, a celebration that set the tone for the series of activities lined-up by the state government for the festive season.
Many people thronged Oba Akran Road, where the street carnival was held. It was indeed an exciting celebration, replete with pomp and colour.
It began with a parade of beautifully dressed choreographers, acrobats and stuntmen representing the 57 councils in the state before gradually paving way for musical performances by some of Nigeria’s popular and upcoming artistes.
Introduced last year on the Island, the Lagos Street Carnival has evolved into an annual event that showcases the state’s potential for tourism, arts, culture and entertainment.
NAN-TV’s Iyiola Pedro captured highlights of this years’s 12-hour celebration, organised in partnership with the private sector.
