Assent to Peace Corps Bill–NYCN, NANS beg Buhari

    The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to signal the Nigerian Peace Corps (NPC) Bill into legislation.

    NYCN’s President, Mr Murtala Garba and NANS’ President, Mr Aruna Kadiri, made the plea whereas addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

    Garba stated that NPC was a youth-based organisation important to tackling youth unemployment in Nigeria however had been constantly pissed off from contributing to nationwide improvement.

    He stated that the core mandates of the corps have been to empower, develop and supply gainful employment for the youths; facilitate peace, volunteerism, patriotism, neighborhood companies neighbourhood watch and nation-building.

    “It is pertinent to notice that the Nigerian Peace Corps has been one of many voluntary youth organisations duly affiliated to NYCN and has been partnering with the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports and its Education counterpart since inception in 1998.

    “Because of the necessary position it has been enjoying within the improvement of Nigerian youth and within the promotion of peace, the NPC was granted a particular consultative standing by each the United Nations and the African Union.
