Economist denies story on President Buhari

    By Ismaila Chafe

The Economist, a London-based journal, has disowned a publication which claimed that Nigerians have proven unprecedented stage of endurance with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The publication has been making rounds on the social media and on some web sites within the nation, and past.

Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a press release issued in Abuja on Thursday, quoted the Africa Editor of the journal, Jonathan Rosenthal as dismissing the publication.

The presidential aide quoted a letter dated Jan. 18, written and signed by Rosenthal, condemning the publication.

“It has come to my consideration that an article has been circulating on social media and been revealed on numerous web sites that purports to have been written or revealed by The Economist.

“The article with the headline ‘The Unprecedented Level of Patience Shown to Buhari’ was not written nor published by The Economist. Any claims connecting it to The Economist are false.”

The Presidency enjoins Nigerians to be very watchful and circumspect in regards to the form of data they’re uncovered to, and share, particularly on this interval when purveyors of pretend information abound.
