Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has granted clemency to 10 prisoners within the state and accepted their rapid launch.
The Governor additionally granted pardon to Captain Idris Mohammed, a retired soldier and ex-convict, who accomplished his jail time period in 1985.
El-Rufa’i in a press release mentioned the gesture was to increase compassion to deserving prisoners throughout New Year.
It mentioned that the governor’s motion was based mostly on the suggestions of the Kaduna State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy and in line with the provisions of Section 212 of the Constitution.
The 10 prisoners have been serving jail phrases ranging from three to six years, with lower than six months left to finish their phrases.
Those granted pardoned for his or her good conduct are Habibu Iliyasu, Ibrahim Mohammed, Ibrahim Auwalu, Abubakar Abdullahi and Shehu Usman.
Others have been, Ibrahim Stephen, Saidu Idris, Ashimu Danmutuwa, Kabiru Mohammed and Aliyu Yusuf.
El-Rufai mentioned the pardon granted Capt. Mohammed to take away the stigma of being an ex-convict. (NAN)
