    The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command, says it has arrested a lady who allegedly burnt the palms of her nine-year-old granddaughter for consuming her brother’s meals.

    Mr Babawale Afolabi, the Public Relations Officer of the command, disclosed this to newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday.

    Afolabi mentioned the incident occurred on Jan. 16 round 1:45 p.m., at Ila Area of Erin-Osun, Osogbo, the place the lady was residing along with her grandmother, Victoria John.

    He defined that the lady, a twin who misplaced her mom at a young age, was caught by her grandmother consuming her twin brother’s meals and was subsequently punished by burning her palms with scorching coal.

    He mentioned the lady was taken to the Primary Healthcare Centre at Erin-Osun by some residents for therapy.

    The spokesperson mentioned the residents later reported the case to the Human Trafficking and Child Abuse Department of the corps.

    He mentioned medics that have been treating the lady mentioned that she wanted surgical procedure to restore the contraction on the palms.

    According to him, based mostly on the extent of harm inflicted on the hand, the sufferer may also want a psychotherapist to assist her with correct use of the palms once more.

    Afolabi mentioned the grandma was presently within the custody of the NSCDC, including that additional investigation into the matter was ongoing.
