The Katsina State Government says it has spent N2 billion on the development customary drainage programs in 10 cities throughout the state in 2017.
The Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Hamza Faskari, mentioned this on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina.
“Standard drainage programs had been constructed in flood-prone cities throughout the state.
“The Katsina State Government executed the N2billion undertaking to avert flood disasters in these areas.
“The drainage programs had been constructed in Funtua, Malumfashi, Dutsinma, Mani, Kankia, Musawa, Matazu, Mai’adua and Daura Local Government Areas.
“The authorities additionally constructed a number of drainage channels within the Katsina metropolis to avert flood within the state capital.
“In Katsina metropolis, the federal government additionally constructed drainage channels in some neighbourhoods reminiscent of Kofar Kaura, Kofar Kwaya, Gadar-Nayalli, Adeleke, Kofar Marusa and Kofar Sauri.

Faskari mentioned that over N1.5 billion had been earmarked within the 2018 funds for the development of drainage programs within the 34 native authorities areas of the state in order to verify flooding within the state.
He recommended Gov. Aminu Masari for giving precedence to environmental points that had been geared toward selling the protection of the folks’s lives and property.
