Former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has alerted the general public to what she termed ‘pretend information gadgets and voice recordings circulating on the social media purportedly made by her.
Okonjo-Iweala, who was additionally a coordinating Minister of Nigeria’s economic system beneath former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, in an announcement on Thursday urged the general public to be cautious of the contents, saying they have been politically motivated.
“It has been delivered to my consideration that quite a lot of pretend information gadgets with my picture and pretend voice recordings of me making political utterances are circulating on social media.
“I would like the general public to watch out for such pretend information gadgets. They are being put out by politically motivated folks with malicious intent.
“It is the 2019 political season and such persons are determined to destroy and distract for energy.
“I wish to state categorically, as I’ve all the time performed, that I cannot be distracted from the targeted worldwide assignments I’m engaged with,’’ the previous minister mentioned.
